Children with serious illnesses will enjoy a free villa in PortAventura

PortAventura Dreams oferirà els seus serveis for free

Salou. Costa Dorada. 28 November 2018.
The PortAventura Foundation will launch a solidarity project aimed at helping families with a child affected by a serious illness to enjoy their own space in the park, free of charge. This space, which the foundation describes as a village, will be called PortAventura Dreams. The project will consolidate the commitment of the foundation, which has entertainment and fun as the axis of its social action, with the improvement of the lives of children at risk of exclusion due to disability or health reasons.

PortAventura Dreams, a pioneering initiative in Europe that will have an investment of more than 3 million euros, will create a physical-temporal space, different and fun, during the fight against the disease, whose objective will be the search for an effect positive from a psychological point of view on recovery, while allowing new moments of family bonding to feed.

To develop this project, the foundation has established a network of different collaborators from private companies, other foundations and hospitals. The objective is to continue increasing the number of collaborating entities and add to maternal and infant hospitals of reference in Spain that want to join this special solidarity initiative.

PortAventura Dreams will occupy a space of about 9,000 m² located within PortAventura World. The village will have 8 homes of 130m², fully adapted, which can accommodate a total of 8 families of a maximum of 6 members each. The project will focus on minors between 4 and 17 years who suffer (or have suffered) serious diseases, listed in the list prepared by the Ministry of Health. The choice of families that can participate in the PortAventura Dreams experience will be made through a committee made up of doctors, social workers and other experts in the field of health. The forecast is that a total of 168 families can enjoy the PortAventura Dreams program annually, a figure that will increase over time.

Families will have a totally free 6-day stay in a fully adapted detached house that will be located in the village. The package will include access to the three parks of PortAventura World and the possibility of enjoying exclusive activities for families, energized by volunteer groups of Fundació PortAventura.

The value of leisure within recovery therapy
PortAventura Dreams is an initiative of the Fundació PortAventura, the entity that channels and promotes all the social actions of PortAventura World as part of its proposal for Corporate Social Responsibility. Founded in 2011, throughout its history Fundació PortAventura has granted aid worth more than 6,341,186 euros through different projects of its own or in collaboration with other entities, and has invited more than 68,000 children and young people at risk of exclusion. to enjoy PortAventura World.

The arrival of PortAventura Dreams represents a new step forward for the foundation, and adds to the long list of initiatives carried out annually, such as solidarity days, fundraising events, direct contributions to projects of other entities or projects of access to leisure.

"We are aware of our position and responsibility, and we firmly believe that we can generate real and positive benefits for society and the environment. The arrival of PortAventura Dreams allows us to continue generating real value for society through a program that aims to make the disease more bearable, not only for the child, but also for his family, which is a fundamental part of the recovery process . All this, taking advantage of the therapeutic and motivational capacity that leisure and family fun can have. We are very pleased to launch such an exciting and ambitious project as PortAventura Dreams, and we are sure that it will allow us to continue helping those people who need it the most ", said Ramón Marsal, President of the PortAventura Foundation.
