The pavement marking of the zone of Carles Buïgas looks new paint

Salou. Costa Dorada. 07 July 2018. The horizontal signage of the pedestrian areas of Carles Buïgas Avenue and Carrer Josep Carner de Salou has been renewed. This improvement coincides with the start of the season, when the increase in the population in the city is evident. The works consisted of a new painting for the loading and unloading areas and access to the parking lots that is visible to pedestrians, since they are areas destined for them.

Thus, the two places where it has acted on the part of the municipal technical services are, on the one hand, Carles Buïgas Avenue where the yellow earth circles have been repainted in the framework of the follow-up for the second year of the pilot test in the section that goes from the roundabout on Murillo Street to Zaragoza Street and that uses recycled elements and the yellow color (indicative of a provisional space) as the basic line of work.

The Councilor for Maintenance of the City, Mª José Rodríguez, pointed out that the next days will also be installed some planters made with drums, following the line of reused material used throughout the pilot test. New signs have also been installed for pedestrian passageways, for cars and for loading and unloading areas. "The summer of last year this change was launched in order to enhance the space for pedestrians in one of the most touristy and crowded areas of the municipality where only 30% of the space was for the many pedestrians and we remain determined to start a change that will be final. " This year, in addition, permits have also been given for the installation of terraces for bars and restaurants in the transit area to generate life in the street environment.

It should be remembered that this process of change was born of citizen participation, since a participatory process was launched with the involvement of the inhabitants of the area, the catering sector, the commerce or the tourist accommodation in the area to reach a integral and transversal reform and that counted on the participation of about ninety people.

The other street where it has been performed and which is also dedicated to the passage for pedestrians since 2016 joining Plaza Europa with the Jaume I area, is Josep Carner Street. This has also improved the signage that warns that it is an area of ​​passage of people and has painted yellow and blue circles at the beginning of the street and at the junction with the street Major. The total cost of these works in the whole field has exceeded 23,000 euros.
