This year 2014 Tarraco Viva revolves around the figure of the emperor Augustus

Tarragona, Salou, Cambrils. Costa Dorada. 21 April 2014. More than 800 events and activities for families with children, youth and adults around gastronomy, representations of historical reenactment, exhibitions, lectures, guided tours and various workshops are the extensive program of the XVI edition of the festival Tarraco Viva, which takes place from 5 to 25 May in Tarragona.

This year, the festival revolves around the figure of the emperor Augustus and celebrated 2000 years of his death, but the transformation that made the Roman empire and the political and cultural unity which reached throughout the empire lasted for more than 300 years later his death. For this reason, and the passage of Augustus the city, Tarraco Viva this year wants to pay tribute to a central event around the Ara Pacis and a closing ceremony for the funeral of the emperor.

Among other activities, the program includes:
  • The Pueri Tarraco Viva festival for families and children on May 11 at Camp de Mart
  • Roman cuisine space 17, 18, 23, 24 and 25 May, also in the Camp de Mart
  • The wedding of Augustus and Livia, on 24 and 25 May at the Camp de Mart
  • August teaches justice, game discovery 17 and May 24 in Cologne Forum
  • Ludus Magnus Augusti, organized games for the greater glory of the emperor with the gladiators 16, 17 and 18 May in the Roman amphitheater
  • Anthony and Cleopatra, Roman puppet on 17 and 24 May in Cologne Forum
  • Ara Pacis Augustae, guided tour on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at the fairgrounds the Palacio de Congresos de Tarragona (opposite the train station)
  • The stars of the Roman sky at the Planetarium located on the grounds of Camp de Mart on 17, 18, 24 and 25 May
  • The first fire of the Romans on 16, 17, 23 and 24 May in the Roman Circus (entrance on the Rambla Vella)
  • Visit to the Barenys Roman villa in Salou on 9, 10 and 11 May
  • Tarraco in the table, gastronomic events from 15 to 25 May with Roman menus at different restaurants in the city
  • Come, see and experience ... the festival. Do Legionnaire 17, 18, 24 and 25 May in the grounds of Camp de Mart
  • The power of Rome in Tarraco, route the archaeological remains of the city Model, Castle, Provincial Forum, Roman Circus Praetorium and Thursdays 8, 15 and 22 May at 10 am
  • Funus Augusti, closing ceremony on May 25 at the fairgrounds the Palacio de Congresos de Tarragona

The historical reenactment festival Tarraco Viva, in full Spring is ideally Roman treasures of Tarragona, a World Heritage Site, and culture of one of the most important and lasting civilizations in history time.
