Salou, world capital of the Rally

Salou. Costa Dorada. 22 June 2017. From October 5 to 8, 2017, Salou will host the Rally World Championship, the RallyRACC Catalunya-Costa Daurada that this year celebrates its 53rd edition. This test, one of the most complete of the WRC (Fir World Rally Championship), includes 3 intense mixed stages, 1 of earth and 2 of asphalt, and 312.02 km of speed, distributed in 19 timed sections.

A total of 1,289.43 km will be covered, and as a novelty of this year, the route is modified in 10 sections and 5 new ones are added. These will be played on the different roads and roads of the province of Tarragona and the Costa Daurada.

After 13 consecutive years, Salou and PortAventura World are again the epicenter of the RallyRACC 2017, celebrating the first day, prior to the championship, on October 5 in the Emprius area of ​​Salou, where the shakedown will take place, The departure of the participating vehicles, where pilots and teams will try, for the first time, their cars.

It should be noted that the official departure ceremony will be completed with a parade of all participants with their vehicles on the Paseo Jaume I in Salou.

PortAventura World becomes, again, in the park for assistance for vehicles and for teams that, outside of competition, will remain in this logistics center qualified for the occasion.

With the refusal of the Barcelona city council to receive one of the sections of the competition that will pass through the city, specifically the Sants-Montjuïc district, Salou will be the only urban section to be held in the itinerary of this edition. This can be a great opportunity for motor amateurs to see one of the most important competitions in the world.

For the eighth consecutive year, the RallyRACC Catalunya-Costa Daurada tour will be mixed, asphalt and ground, being the only World Cup with this feature. This puts more difficulty on this sporting event, which is also the first-ever scoring global WRC, so that it can be decisive in the final award of titles, both for pilots and for builders.

This competition will have the television coverage of TV3 (Esport3), TVE (Teledeporte) and Movistar + with daily summaries of the different stages and some live broadcasts, especially the last sections of the end of the race.


Day 0. Thursday, October 5: Shakedown and Departure of Salou

First day that welcomes the start-up of the vehicles, the shakedown, in the Emprius area, about 2.97 km of route to carry out the adjustments of the participating cars.

At 8 pm there will be an official Salou ceremony in Salou and the parade of the participants for the Paseo Jaume I in Salou and other streets in the municipality.

Day 1. Friday, October 6: Unique mixed stage of the WRC

Starting at 8 in the morning, the first day of the mixed stretch will take place with a total of 115.90 km that will pass through the municipalities of Vilalba dels Arcs, La Fatarella (with a large area of ​​spectators enabled), Caseres i Bot. This stage includes the first mixed section "Terra Alta" of asphalt and earth.
