This summer Salou opens a smoke-free area on the beach

Salou. Costa Dorada. 04 June 2024. This summer, Salou's Ponent beach has a marked area of ​​almost 12,000 square meters smoke-free, that is, where you cannot smoke or vape. This area is close to the Nautical Club and includes a playground and spaces for practicing sports on the beach (calisthenics and volleyball, among others).

The Salou City Council thus responds to the demand of residents and visitors to enjoy a healthier space on the beach as it is free of smoke and possible related waste.

The creation on Ponent beach of a smoke-free space and a space to go to the beach with dogs in summer is covered by the new Salou beach ordinance, which includes for the first time the possibility of sanctioning users who do not respect the rules of coexistence on the beach.

The sanctions can range from 100 to 600 euros, depending on the seriousness of the infraction, although the City Council hopes that civility will prevail and thus not have to use these coercive measures. For this reason, the Salou council plans to carry out information and awareness campaigns about the new ordinances, which will facilitate better compliance by all beach users.
