L’alcalde de Salou, Pere Granados, ha xifrat en 3 milions anuals el nombre de turistes que visiten Salou, la qual cosa fa de la capital de la Costa Daurada la segona destinació turística de Catalunya, darrere de Barcelona, i la quarta d’Espanya, després de Barcelona, Madrid i Benidorm. És la primera vegada que es quantifica, des d'una font oficial, en 3 milions el nombre de visitants que rep Salou.
